FunFest organisers have paid close attention to media, health expert commentary, government announcements and public sentiment, relating to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
Our commitment to the health, safety and enjoyment for our volunteers, artists, vendors and the general public was priority.
In light of medical expert and public concerns and confirmed by the government recommendations announced this afternoon we have regrettably cancelled the Funfest 2020, The Biggest Street Party in Dandenongs! on March 29th, 2020.
We will communicate separately via more detailed emails to artists, stallholders, vendors, volunteers, sponsors and others who have been involved in the extensive planning for this popular festival.
While we understand that this will be very disappointing for many people, there is no alternative and this is the only responsible and safe thing to do, given the estimated 10,000+ people who attend FunFest each year.
Please note, at this stage this decision does not affect the other events scheduled for the PAVE Festival, which consist of a number of smaller, shorter events. Some modifications and additional precautions will be taken to increase the safety and confidence for patrons, artists and volunteers and we are currently working through these details. More information will be announced on the PAVE Festival social media and web pages, as well as directly to artists, sponsors, volunteers, venues, etc.
The Emerald Community House Committee of Management recognises and appreciates the efforts of all volunteers, staff and supporters involved in bringing the Emerald FunFest to this stage.
We thank everyone involved for their support and patience as we worked through this difficult decision.
We will continue to monitor conditions and advice and further announcements may be made in coming days.
Feel free to contact info@funfest.org.au for any specific enquiries, but please be patient as our volunteers are busy adjusting arrangements and will reply as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and support of the Emerald FunFest
The Performing and Visual Arts in Emerald (PAVE) Festival committee have been paying close attention to advice, regulations and the current situation in regards to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
Regrettably, the PAVE Committee has decided to call off the PAVE Festival at this time.
Although this will be very disappointing for many people, our commitment to the health, safety and enjoyment for our volunteers, artists, venue staff and the general public was the priority.
The PAVE Committee volunteers are currently in the process of contacting artists, event organisers, venues, sponsors, ticket holders & others who have been involved in the extensive planning of the festival.
A range of options will be available to ticket holders, including full refund, donation to the artist or festival operating costs and a credit to use when the event is rescheduled.
We are also looking at ways to promote the arts and artists throughout the PAVE week while staying safe. These could include; projection art on local buildings, music in the streets, online broadcasts & video streams, online art games, letter writing and many other activities. Stay tuned and comment with ideas!
The following activities are still scheduled to run during PAVE week:
-Plant Sales at Telopea Gardens (28th, 29th, 30th March)
-Busking in the Streets (4th April)
Please note, the Emerald FunFest, which is the large street festival that occurs on the first day of the PAVE Festival has been cancelled in its entirety and plans will commence to bring it back next year.
The Committee is planning to reschedule the smaller PAVE events, once things settle down and public confidence has returned, bringing events to life when the time is right.
The Emerald Community House Committee of Management recognises and appreciates the efforts of all volunteers, staff and supporters involved in bringing the PAVE Festival to this stage.
For any enquiries, please contact info@pave.org.au, but please be patient as our volunteers are busy adjusting arrangements and will reply as soon as possible.
