Tracey Roberts is one of Melbourne’s most talented, accomplished and versatile singer-songwriter-pianists. Her jazz-infused folk-pop style original songs mesmerise listeners with richly, melodic musical chordings tinted with blues, cabaret and neo-classical influences. Her intelligently constructed lyrics are poetic and image-laden, often said to inspire and transport one into a place which is all about the experience or story within the song. She is gifted with a dynamic vocal range and exceptional piano-playing sensitivity, theatrically delivering performances with a passion and energy that consistently holds audiences spellbound. 20 years of musical experience includes international touring, TV & radio, regular performances at concerts, functions and festivals.
Her 10th CD, LIVE at the LARK, has just been released with her Quartet a joyful and dynamic album of originals and carefully selected covers. Consummate professional musicianship – class act.
Tracey is also a visual artist and music-colour synesthete (one who involuntarily sees colours and shapes when listening to music). Through her own diverse journey as a musician and performer, and with many years of varied experience in the music arena, Tracey’s images are rich, colourful depictions of a multitude of musical themes. Many of her art exhibitions include a musical performance, which is, of course, intrinsically part of her work and she is always happy to discuss her music and artwork and how they are inextricably linked. In 2013 she released her first video music / art release on Blu-ray which is a 30 minute instrumental improvised piano concert and small interviews about music and selected artwork pieces.
She is also the brainchild behind “Your Story in Art” – a collaborative art project with clients creating a visual depiction of their own personal story or story of their workplace, or someone special – encapsulated in a unique, meaningful piece of art, often becoming heirlooms.
